Julia Boughton (CEO and CTO) specializes in the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies into sustainable, high-impact projects. She managed product development activities for several of Procter & Gamble (P&G)’s businesses, from personal health care to paper products for 24 years, since 1988. Her time with P&G included a seven year stint in Caracas, Venezuela, giving her firsthand knowledge of social/economic issues important to emerging regions. While at P&G, Boughton led P&G’s “Waste to Worth” program, which supports the company’s long term environmental sustainability vision: having zero consumer waste entering landfills. She became the CEO of the Foundation for Sustainable Waste Resources of the Clinton Global Initiatives in 2012 and founded her own company, W2Worth Innovations LLC, which aims to enable the use of waste as a resource. She obtained a degree in BS Chemical Engineering from Ohio State University.
Paul T. Puthenpurekal (COO and CFO) is a corporate strategist, proficient in project development and implementation of a wide array of renewable energy technologies. He is currently the COO of Simfoni Sure Global Pte. Ltd., a company currently focused on the development of biogas and biomass projects in Southeast Asia. He has over 10 years of environmental management experience in India, Germany and the Philippines, where he was involved in a variety of projects including the development of expressways, airports, small and large hydropower plants, landfill and other biogas projects, among others. He was also a Consultant for the Development of Renewable Energy Database, a UNDP funded CBRED project of the Department of Energy. He holds a degree in Master of Science in Geology from the University of Pune, India (1992), a Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Geology from Tuebingen University in Germany (1995), and a Master in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management in Manila (2003).
David Mc Carthy (Director of Technology Development) specializes in a evaluating and liaising with technology vendors in the Waste to Energy field. He is one of the founders of ReGen Fuels & Energy, a company that specializes in renewable drop-in fuels and low cost waste handling solutions. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for JUM Global, LLC in Jacksonville, Florida. He was previously the Director of Sales and Business Development for The Lending Group where he led the startup of the retail division of the company. He graduated from Marquette University
Jose Luis Esparza (Chief Purchasing Officer) has over 25 years of global experience leading and working in global, multi-functional teams focused on strategic sourcing of diverse materials and services. He worked 22 years in Procter & Gamble, including 7 years of experience in renewable energies, which implemented a global renewable energy program where he was involved in the identification and analysis of new energy technologies. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in ITAM, Mexico City, and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Business and Renewable Energies at Marylhurst University in Portland, USA.
Celestino Ulep (Director of Environmental and Social Science) has extensive experience in natural resource management. He is currently a Director of Environmental Solutions for Energy Initiatives, engaged in the preparation of environmental studies required for government compliance. He was formerly the Assistant Vice President for Operations of the ENR Consultants, the Project Manager for URS Corporation, and a National Consultant for the Tourism Resource Consultants of the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID). He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila with a degree in B.S. Architecture (1969) and obtained a Diploma in Urban Survey and Human Settlements Analysis from ITC Enschede, in Netherlands (1985). He also holds a Master in Environmental Studies degree (2000) and a PhD in Environmental Science (2004) from the Miriam College
Clarence Darrow M. De Guia (Chief Legal Officer) provides legal support for the company, with extensive practice in Philippine Law through government service. He formerly worked with the Government Service Insurance System and served as the Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Senior Legal Consultant of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and an Associate of the Factoran Law Office. He is currently the President of Solutions Using Renewable Energy, Inc., a company that is engaged in the development of renewable energy projects in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. He graduated from the University of the Philippines (UP) with a degree in B.A. Social Sciences in 1986 and a Bachelor of Laws degree from UP-Diliman campus in 1992. He has been a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines since 1993
Edgardo G. Bernal (Energy and Off Take Specialist) has over 25 years work experience at the MERALCO as a Senior Manager and Head for System Analysis, North Distribution, and Design and Construction Standards. He is currently the VP for Operations at Solutions Using Renewable Energy, Inc., a company engaged in the development of renewable energy projects in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. He graduated from the Mapua Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree in 1980, and topped the Electrical Engineering Board Exam given that same year. He also holds a Master in Business Administration degree from the Asian Institute of Management (2003).
Paul Selders (Business Development Manager) has extensive management experience in the field of project development, innovation and international sales in the energy sector. He was previously a Managing Director for Topec W2E Holding B.V., responsible for the development of pipeline projects through joint venture negotiations with development companies. He was also a Managing Director of Topec B.V., a founder of Pon Powerhouse B.V., and the Sales Director of Pon Power B.V. He has founded his own company, SE&C B.V. in the Netherlands that manages companies in the renewable energy business and trading
Jezreel Pabia-Uy (Project and Portfolio Financial Specialist) is experienced in developing renewable energy projects in the Philippines, with exposure to investment finance, business development, government applications, banking and administration. She is currently a Finance Manager at Solutions Using Renewable Energy, Inc., a company engaged in the development of renewable energy projects in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. She previously worked with Montalban Methane Power Corporation as the Finance and Administration Manager. She obtained a degree in B.S. Applied Mathematics from the University of the Philippines in 2001.
Viava Jane Africa (Technical Project Implementation Manager) graduated from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology at the Myongji University in South Korea. She worked as a Project Research Engineer for an electronics company in South Korea but later decided to pursue her career in the renewable energy industry in the Philippines with Solutions Using Renewable Energy, Inc. in 2008. She has since has been involved in various projects with tasks ranging from project conceptualization to implementation handling technical and administrative aspects of the projects.
