WHAT WE DO

We are a development company engaged in “waste to worth” business models that aim to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to waste problems. SURE Global W2Wi, in partnership with Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is developing Waste-to-Worth Projects for various entities in the Philippines.

The projects aim to create an integral, replicable and profitable waste management system that creates value from the solid waste stream through the establishment of integrated facilities or “Eco-Parks” that shall manage receiving, conversion and creation of profit out of municipal solid waste. The project creates an overall win-win situation. Through a targeted zero tipping fee, the project incentivizes the local government to increase the collection efficiency of garbage.

The more garbage that is brought to the facility, the more profitable it is for the project. Since garbage is something everyone wants to get rid of, and sanitary landfills (and dumpsites for that matter) are filling up quickly, there is an enormous possibility for growth and expansion down the road. The facilities shall be scalable to accommodate additional wastes from significant increases in waste disposal coming from a spurt in the local population, or additional wastes from neighboring areas.

PROJECT SUPPORT

•Technical Assistance for some projects was provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), co-funded by Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines.

•AECOM has been contracted by the ADB to carry out the required technical studies, including the waste characterization study, project site evaluation and selection, among others.

•ADB has signified its interest to invest up to 15% of the equity requirement, and 40% of the debt.

•Agreements have been signed with the partner entities who shall be providing the MSW for the duration of the project, for mutual cooperation and exclusivity while the studies are being done. Two of the partner LGUs have indicatively accepted the terms of the initial proposals presented to them and a legal construct is currently being prepared.

CONCEPT

The premise behind Waste to Worth Projects is that all waste is viewed as a resource to be recovered and used to stimulate Economic Development.

The concept of Waste to Worth originated from P&G—the company behind consumer brands including Safeguard, Ariel, Tide and Pampers—which aims to eliminate waste going to landfills and dumps through innovative solutions. In the Philippines, P&G has partnered with ADB to invest in the design of a solution to the solid waste challenge in the country, and has entrusted the development and implementation of the projects to SURE Global W2Wi Pte. Ltd.
